This shift was influenced by the introduction of new taxes and sustained inflationary pressures, compounded by the ongoing conflict which continued to affect economic stability. The BNR's interventions helped maintain currency stability amid these challenges.

By 2024, production further declined to 1 371 tons, with market value at 14.1 million US dollars. Throughout the period, the rise of cryptocurrencies emerged as a notable trend, with 40% of Romanians engaging with digital assets, potentially altering investment patterns relative to physical coins.
