Earlier Report Observations

The Asian coconut oilcake market volume grew from 1 453 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 1 513 thousand tonnes in 2019. This initial increase coincided with China's initiation of import tracking for coconut copra oil cake from February 2018, which facilitated trade flows and supported volume growth. However, the market contracted to 1 334 thousand tonnes in 2020.

A recovery followed in 2021, with the market reaching 1 416 thousand tonnes. A sharp surge then occurred in 2022, lifting the market to 1 767 thousand tonnes. In 2023, volume declined to 1 607 thousand tonnes, impacted by reduced coconut supply for crushing in the Philippines, which constrained copra meal production and consumption across the region.
