The market volume for chicken meat and offal in Spain grew from 1 281 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 1 333 thousand tonnes in 2020, with the most notable increase occurring in 2019.

After a contraction to 1 243 thousand tonnes in 2021, the market rebounded to 1 316 thousand tonnes in 2022. This recovery was supported by the launch of new frozen chicken products targeting consumer convenience, such as Seara Shawaya roasting chicken, and by urbanization trends that increased demand for easy-to-prepare and storable options.

Growth continued into 2023, with the market reaching 1 377 thousand tonnes. Sustained demand for frozen chicken, driven by its convenience and longer shelf life, was reinforced by technological advances in processing and packaging, alongside the expansion of e-commerce distribution channels.

Following two years of growth, Spain's production of chicken meat and offal experienced a decline. In 2020, the country produced 1 401 thousand tonnes, marking a 0.8% decrease from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, overall production rose by 6.4%, with an average annual growth rate of 2.1%. The peak production occurred in 2019, reaching 1 412 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 4.9%.

After two years of improvement, Spain's production value for chicken meat and offal fell. In 2020, the output was valued at 2 325 million US dollars, representing a 1.8% loss compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, the value increased by 13%, translating to an annualized growth rate of 4.2%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 2 367 million US dollars, which also experienced the largest annual increase of 11.2%.
