Earlier Report Observations

The market for fresh cauliflowers and broccoli in Saudi Arabia expanded rapidly between 2018 and 2021, with total volume more than tripling from 13 512 t to 40 884 t. This growth was supported by a strong increase in domestic production, which rose from 10 230 t to 29 446 t, and a concurrent surge in imports.

Following the 2021 peak, market volume contracted significantly, falling to 29 216 t in 2022 and then to 26 277 t in 2023. The decline coincided with a sharp drop in import volumes, which decreased from 14 522 t in 2021 to 3 179 t in 2023, while production also retreated from its high.

The year 2024 saw the emergence of the Kharaaj digital platform for delivering fresh agricultural produce with customized cooling options. New regulations also permitted empty refrigerated transport trucks from GCC countries to enter Saudi territory, potentially facilitating the movement of chilled vegetables.
