This growth was supported in 2024 by high demand in critical and oncological care settings, alongside a shift toward outpatient and home-based treatments. Technological advances, including catheters with antimicrobial coatings and wireless-enabled accessories for improved monitoring, enhanced product safety and convenience.

An aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases requiring long-term intravenous therapy provided a sustained base of demand. The market in 2024 also saw activity from leading innovators, exemplified by BIOTRONIK's launch of a new micro-catheter for coronary interventions in Spain, while compliance with European MDR directives and ISO standards underpinned product credibility.
