Earlier Report Observations

The Caribbean market for castor oil and fractions showed considerable movement between 2018 and 2023. Market volume began at 682.1 t in 2018 but contracted sharply to 400.7 t in 2020, a decline of over 40%. This drop was primarily due to an exceptional spike in exports, which reached 263.8 t that year, drastically reducing the volume available for domestic consumption.

From 2021, the market rebounded strongly, with volume recovering to 651.1 t and stabilizing above 650 t in the following years. This recovery coincided with exports returning to normal levels and a steady increase in domestic production, which grew from 584.7 t in 2018 to 607.7 t in 2023. By 2023, market volume reached 693.1 t, slightly surpassing the 2018 level and indicating a full market recovery.
