Earlier Report Observations

The cashew nuts market volume in the Americas fluctuated between 160 thousand tons and 261 thousand tons from 2018 to 2023. After a moderate increase to 190 thousand tons in 2021, the market expanded sharply to 261 thousand tons in 2022, then contracted to 205 thousand tons in 2023.

The 2023 decline coincided with the imposition of a steep 46% U.S. tariff on cashew imports from Vietnam, which raised import costs and reduced shipments from a key supplier. This tariff policy shifted Vietnamese exports toward other markets like China, tightening supply in the Americas amid persistent inflationary pressures that affected consumer spending.
