Earlier Report Observations

The market for fresh or chilled capsicum and pimenta fruits in Azerbaijan grew from 54 000 t in 2018 to a peak of 60 600 t in 2021, before contracting to 56 000 t in 2022 and stabilizing around that level in 2023. This movement was driven by domestic production, which increased until 2020 but then declined, while imports rose steadily throughout the period.

Domestic production reached 54 400 t in 2020 but fell by 11% to 48 400 t by 2023. In contrast, imports more than doubled from 4 300 t in 2018 to 7 700 t in 2023, partially compensating for the drop in local output. The overall market volume thus showed resilience despite the production downturn.
