The Finnish market for brake fluids and antifreezes, measured in value, expanded from 23.1 million US dollars in 2018 to 32.6 million in 2024. This growth occurred alongside considerable volatility in physical volume, which peaked at 24 643 tonnes in 2022 but fell to 19 901 tonnes the following year before recovering to 23 503 tonnes in 2024.

Domestic production underwent a sharp contraction, dropping from over 14 000 tonnes in 2019 to just 3 732 tonnes in 2021. Over the same period, imports rose substantially, from 7 039 tonnes in 2019 to 21 843 tonnes in 2022, which helped sustain market volume. By 2024, production had partly recovered to 6 992 tonnes, while imports remained high at 19 548 tonnes.

The steady increase in market value, even when volume declined, suggests a shift towards higher-priced products or overall price inflation within the category. The market's value growth was most pronounced after 2021, rising by nearly 25% to 29.6 million US dollars in 2022 and continuing to climb thereafter.

Exports reached their peak in 2018 at 8 143 t, which also saw the largest annual increase of 44.6%. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 53.5%, corresponding to an annualized rate of 22.5%.
