The market volume for beef, sheep, and goat fat in Argentina grew to 453 thousand tons in 2019 but then entered a downward trend, falling to 362 thousand tons by 2023. In value terms, the market peaked at $265 million in 2020 before declining to $226 million in 2023.

In 2022, the implementation of the Front Labeling Law (Ley de Etiquetado Frontal), which mandates black warning labels on foods high in fats, pressured domestic consumption. At the same time, the launch of a bovine leukemia vaccine and regulatory changes for animal feed supported production volumes, which increased to 486 thousand tons. Exports rose significantly to 98 thousand tons, absorbing much of the additional output.

By 2023, domestic market volume contracted further to 362 thousand tons, while exports surged to 148 thousand tons. This shift reflected growing external demand and the industry's adaptation to regulatory changes affecting local consumption.
