Southeast Asia's eggplant production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 921.7 thousand tons of eggplants, marking an 8.9% increase from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 15.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.8%.

Southeast Asia's eggplant production value has increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the output was valued at 1.273 billion US dollars, up 22.4% from the prior year. Southeast Asia's eggplant export volume has declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports totaled 4,352 tons, down 2.6% from 2019.
