Between 2018 and 2024, the market volume for amino-resins, phenolic resins and polyurethanes in Croatia showed considerable fluctuations. Following an initial contraction in 2019, consumption recovered in 2020 and then surged sharply to a peak of 39 099 t in 2021. The market volume subsequently moderated but remained on an elevated path, reaching 40 185 t in 2024.

In value terms, the market experienced even more pronounced movements, with a dramatic increase to $43.7 million in 2021. This was followed by further growth to $49.3 million in 2022 before a slight correction. The overall rise in market value significantly outpaced the growth in physical volume over the period.

The expansion was primarily driven by rising imports, which constitute the vast majority of supply. Domestic production remained at a much lower scale and showed relative stability throughout these years, contributing marginally to the total market size.

The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 327 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 60.8%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the most significant decline of 14.7%.

The market showed an unstable trend throughout the period. Production peaked in 2018 and hit its lowest point in 2017, with a 1.8-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Croatia produced 438.0 tonnes of amino-resins, phenolic resins, and polyurethanes, representing an 8.6% drop compared to the previous year. The maximum volume was recorded in 2018 at 554.0 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 75.3%. The most substantial decline occurred in 2019, falling by 13.5%.

Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 31.5%, equating to an annualized growth rate of 9.6%. The highest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 695 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 33.5%. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, dropping by 10.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were the dominant markets for Croatia's exports in kind, jointly accounting for 81.2% of total flows, with other countries making up the remaining share.

In 2020, exports amounted to 1 418 thousand US dollars, down 7.4% compared to the previous year. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 695 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 20.1%. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, falling by 9.7%.
