Hungary’s UBM Acquires 65% of Greek Feed Producer ELVIZ
Hungarian agricultural group UBM has acquired 65% of Greek feed producer ELVIZ, entering the Greek market and lifting its annual feed-production capacity above 1 million tonnes. Greece will serve both the domestic market and UBM’s planned expansion across Southeast Europe.
UBM takes control of ELVIZ
Hungarian agricultural group UBM has completed the acquisition of a 65% stake in ELVIZ, giving it control of one of Greece’s leading animal-feed producers. The transaction marks UBM’s entry into the Greek feed market and raises the group’s total annual production capacity above 1 million tonnes, according to Newmoney and Mononews.
ELVIZ has capacity to produce approximately 250,000 tonnes of feed annually. Before the acquisition, UBM operated capacity of about 780,000 tonnes a year and was already Hungary’s largest feed producer. Sofokleousin describes ELVIZ as one of the three largest companies in the Greek sector.
The remaining 35% is expected to transfer to UBM by 2029, Newmoney and Mononews reported. Sofokleousin described the arrangement as giving UBM the right to acquire that holding within three years. The available reports did not disclose the transaction’s financial terms.
Greek plants become a regional base
ELVIZ will continue producing feed for poultry, pigs and ruminants under its new ownership structure. Its output will primarily serve customers in Greece, while UBM plans to use the country as a platform for expansion into the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean, with more limited activity targeting the Middle East.
The location gives UBM a production base closer to livestock customers across Southeast Europe. It also extends the group’s international footprint beyond its established Hungarian operations. For Greek livestock and poultry producers, the change brings a larger strategic owner with access to capital, technology, raw-material trading experience and an international commercial network.
UBM chief executive Péter Horváth said ELVIZ’s existing owners had sought a partner able to provide capital, modern technology, international experience and new growth opportunities. He said UBM was acquiring a business with an established market position, a balanced revenue mix and a long record of profitable operations.
Feed manufacturing supports a larger trading business
UBM is one of Hungary’s largest traders of feed raw materials and handles a total trading volume of 2.1 million tonnes. The group exports to more than 20 countries, and exports account for approximately half of total revenue. The ELVIZ acquisition therefore connects additional manufacturing capacity with an existing cross-border sourcing and distribution business.
During the first half of UBM’s 2025/2026 financial year, covering July 1 to December 31, 2025, the group recorded revenue of 131.6 billion forints, EBITDA of 5.4 billion forints and profit before tax of 2.4 billion forints. UBM is celebrating its 30th year of operations and is the only agricultural-sector company listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange. UBM Holding Nyrt. shares closed at 890 forints on September 1, 2026.
