Russian pork exports forecast to grow 10% by the end of 2026

Russian pork exports could increase by 10% by the end of 2026, according to National Meat Association executive committee head Sergei Yushin. Shipments to the Philippines are expected to reach about 40,000 tonnes worth roughly $80 million this year.

Industry expects another year of growth

Russian pork exports to foreign markets could grow by 10% by the end of 2026, Sergei Yushin, head of the executive committee of the National Meat Association, told Vesti. The forecast points to continued expansion despite the difficulties facing Russian meat suppliers in international markets.

Yushin said Russia remains a major exporter of meat products, although the industry will probably not surpass the record set last year. Pork is nevertheless expected to post firm growth. The projected 10% increase would extend the sector’s export expansion without requiring shipments to reach a new all-time high.

Philippines becomes a larger destination

The Philippine market is one of the clearest sources of additional demand. Russian suppliers have increased pork shipments to the country, and the association estimates that exports to the Philippines could reach about 40,000 tonnes this year. Their value is forecast at approximately $80 million.

Those figures make the Philippines a material market for Russian producers and exporters seeking to broaden sales abroad. The expected volume also shows that growth is being supported by physical shipments, rather than only by changes in prices. Vesti did not provide a breakdown by pork product, company or shipping period, nor did it identify the other destinations expected to contribute to the nationwide 10% increase.

Pork volume and beef value follow different paths

The outlook highlights a difference between Russia’s pork and beef export businesses. Russia ships smaller volumes of beef, Yushin said, but receives higher prices for it in foreign markets. He attributed the premium to demand for high-quality beef from specialized cattle breeds, which is valued in a number of countries.

According to Yushin, buyers are prepared to pay Russian suppliers a substantial premium compared with prices offered to some competing exporters that have been established in international markets for much longer. Pork, by contrast, is the product for which the association supplied a concrete volume-growth forecast and identified the Philippines as an expanding destination.

Domestic consumption remains high

The export forecast comes after Russian consumption of meat and meat products reached a historical high in 2025. Average annual consumption exceeded 100 kilograms per person, according to information previously reported by Vesti.

High domestic consumption and rising pork exports place both the home market and foreign demand at the center of production planning. For processors and producers, the 2026 outlook will depend on maintaining enough output to serve local buyers while expanding overseas deliveries. For traders, the key test will be whether growth in the Philippines and other markets is sufficient to deliver the forecast 10% increase by year-end, even if the industry does not repeat last year’s overall export record.
