Russian meat exports to the Philippines exceed 14,000 tonnes in first half of 2026
Russia exported more than 14,000 tonnes of meat products worth over $34 million to the Philippines in the first half of 2026. The shipments included pork, beef, chicken and turkey, none of which Russia supplied to the market a year earlier.

Russia exported more than 14,000 tonnes of meat products worth over $34 million to the Philippines in the first half of 2026, Interfax reported, citing the federal Agroexport center and its head, Ilya Ilyushin. The shipments covered pork, beef, chicken and turkey. Russia supplied none of these products to the Philippines a year earlier, making the entire first-half volume new trade rather than growth from an established base.
The result follows a sequence of market-access decisions by the Philippines. Russia obtained authorization to supply beef in April 2025. Restrictions on Russian poultry were lifted in July 2025, and the Philippines approved Russian pork in December 2025. These decisions gave exporters access to several major meat categories within less than a year, although companies still have to develop customer relationships and workable arrangements for transport, storage and payment.
Pork offers the largest immediate opportunity
Ilyushin said Russian companies were interested in expanding meat exports to the country, especially pork. The Philippines already ranks among the world’s ten largest pork importers by volume, according to Agroexport. In 2025, the country purchased more than $1.2 billion of pork and pork offal from foreign suppliers. Its overseas purchases of beef and offal exceeded $700 million, while imports of poultry meat and offal reached $570 million.
Those figures put the first-half Russian shipments into perspective. The $34 million delivered across four meat categories represents an initial position in a Philippine import market where annual purchases in the three reported groups totaled more than $2.47 billion in 2025. It also shows why pork is likely to be the main target for Russian suppliers: its import market was larger by value than either beef or poultry and alone accounted for almost half of that combined amount.
Suppliers focus on logistics and long-term contracts
A Russian delegation presented the domestic meat industry’s production capacity and export potential during a sector forum organized by the Philippine Association of Meat Processors, known as PAMPI. Meetings with Philippine companies covered local demand, logistics, storage and payment procedures, as well as potential commercial partnerships. These operating issues will determine whether the initial shipments can develop into recurring business for Russian producers and Philippine processors.
Sergey Yushin, head of Russia’s National Meat Association, previously told Interfax that Russian pork shipments to the Philippines alone could reach at least 35,000-40,000 tonnes in 2026 under favorable conditions. He said a target of 70,000-80,000 tonnes could be set for 2027. These figures are projections rather than confirmed orders, but they indicate the scale sought by the industry. Reaching them would require Russian suppliers to convert newly granted access into stable contracts while managing long-distance logistics, cold storage and settlement arrangements.
