Polish cable maker FPE secures PLN 445.35 million framework contract from PSE
Fabryka Przewodów Energetycznych will supply more than 13,000 km of phase conductors for Poland’s high-voltage grid between 2026 and 2031. The PSE framework contract is worth PLN 362.07 million net and covers nine projects, including infrastructure linked to the planned nuclear power plant.
Six-year framework agreement
Fabryka Przewodów Energetycznych, or FPE, has signed a framework agreement with Polish transmission system operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, or PSE, to supply phase conductors for the construction and modernization of Poland’s highest-voltage power lines. Bankier.pl, citing a statement from the Industrial Development Agency, reported that the contract is worth PLN 362.07 million net and PLN 445.35 million gross.
Deliveries are scheduled for 2026–2031 and will exceed 13,000 km of conductors. WNP.pl reported that the Będzin-based manufacturer was selected as one of two suppliers in PSE’s procurement procedure. Because this is a framework agreement, the precise volumes, delivery schedules and allocation of work will be determined through individual orders placed by PSE during the contract period.
Nine projects, including nuclear infrastructure
The conductors are intended for nine grid projects. According to WNP.pl, these include the construction and modernization of 400 kV lines in Pomerania and Warmia, as well as infrastructure associated with Poland’s planned nuclear power plant. The agreement forms part of what the Industrial Development Agency described as the largest investment program in PSE’s history.
The order connects FPE’s production plans to a multiyear expansion of Poland’s transmission network. High-voltage lines will be needed to carry electricity from new generation sources and reinforce the grid in regions covered by PSE’s projects. For contractors and metal suppliers, however, the framework structure means that actual demand will emerge in stages rather than as a single fixed delivery. PSE’s subsequent orders will determine the pace at which the headline contract value turns into revenue for FPE.
FPE prepares a 70% production increase
FPE expects the orders to support an increase of about 70% in its production of copper and aluminum conductors by 2027. The company said its current order book for 2027 already corresponds to the level of production achieved in previous years. It also plans to participate in further tenders, which could add demand beyond the PSE agreement.
Meeting that target will require an expansion of capacity at the Będzin plant. One financing option under consideration is another capital injection from the state-owned Industrial Development Agency, known by its Polish abbreviation ARP. In 2025, ARP provided FPE with a total of PLN 34.5 million in additional capital. ARP currently controls 79.2% of FPE, while the Polish State Treasury holds the remaining 20.8%. The authorities are analyzing legal and business options for transferring the Treasury’s stake to ARP.
FPE has operated in Będzin since 1928 and manufactures copper and aluminum conductors for the power, railway and industrial sectors. Its products are used in both domestic and foreign projects. The new PSE agreement gives the factory a long-term base of potential orders, but its final production profile will depend on the call-off orders issued under the framework and on the company’s ability to finance and complete the planned capacity expansion.
