Peru’s fresh asparagus export revenue rises 6.85% as volumes decline

Peru exported $182.271 million of fresh asparagus between January and July 2026, up 6.85% year on year, according to Agrodata Perú. Shipment volume fell 6.69% to 43.416 million kilograms, but a higher average export price lifted revenue.

Higher prices offset lower shipment volume

Peru’s fresh asparagus exports generated $182,271,034 between January and July 2026, an increase of 6.85% from $170,581,171 in the corresponding period a year earlier, Agraria.pe reported, citing Agrodata Perú. The result shows that export earnings expanded even as fewer kilograms of asparagus left the country.

Shipments totaled 43,416,076 kilograms during the first seven months of 2026. That was 6.69% below the 46,529,121 kilograms recorded in the comparable period of 2025. The divergence between value and volume indicates that pricing, rather than physical export growth, drove the improvement in revenue.

Agrodata Perú put the average international price of Peruvian fresh asparagus at $4.20 per kilogram in the period reviewed, compared with $3.67 between January and June 2025. The source therefore uses a six-month prior-year period for the price comparison, while its headline value and volume figures compare the first seven months of 2026 with a corresponding period in 2025.

United States accounts for almost two-thirds of sales

The United States remained Peru’s largest overseas market, purchasing $119.353 million of fresh asparagus and accounting for 65.48% of total export value. That concentration makes demand and commercial conditions in the US market particularly important for Peruvian growers, packers and exporters.

Spain ranked second with $19.933 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $17.500 million and the Netherlands with $12.248 million. Germany purchased $3.034 million, while exports to Brazil reached $1.838 million and shipments to Belgium were valued at $1.272 million.

The destination mix combines a dominant North American market with several European buyers and a smaller regional outlet in Brazil. Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands together provide meaningful diversification, but none approaches the scale of the United States.

Export activity is distributed among several suppliers

TA Export was the leading exporter through July, with sales of $21,842,765 from shipments totaling 4,812,642 kilograms. Agroexportaciones Nathaniel followed with $19,999,521 and 5,042,978 kilograms, while Saex Export recorded $12,119,033 from 4,055,035 kilograms.

Danper Trujillo exported $11,589,930 and 2,428,710 kilograms. Kimsa Fresh reported $9,089,616 and 2,210,516 kilograms, while Agrícola Cerro Prieto reached $8,938,809 and 2,085,930 kilograms. Agronegocios D&C shipped 1,990,816 kilograms worth $7,994,432.

Florida Blanca registered $6,574,737 from 1,087,829 kilograms, Complejo Agroindustrial Beta posted $6,191,555 from 1,251,996 kilograms, and Agrovisión Perú recorded $6,112,121 from 1,102,498 kilograms. The figures show substantial participation by multiple exporters. For the sector, the central question is whether elevated unit prices can continue to protect revenue if export volumes remain below the previous year’s level.
