Paraguay’s pork export revenue rises 15.47% as Taiwan leads demand

Export revenue outpaces volume growth

Paraguay’s pork sector increased export volume by 11.36% and foreign-currency revenue by 15.47% in the first six months of 2026, according to data from the National Animal Quality and Health Service, known as Senacsa, reported by ABC Color. The country exported 8,721 tonnes of pork products, including meat and offal, with a total value of $25,542,187.

In the same period of 2025, Paraguay shipped 7,831 tonnes worth $22 million. The faster growth in revenue than in tonnage indicates an improvement in the average value generated by the export mix. The results provide a positive signal for processors and producers seeking to expand the country’s presence beyond its domestic market.

Pork meat accounts for most shipments

Pork meat represented nearly all sector exports during the period. Paraguayan processors shipped 8,573 tonnes, up 10.98% from 7,725 tonnes in the first half of 2025. Revenue from meat exports reached $25,477,957, an increase of 15% from the same period a year earlier.

Taiwan remained Paraguay’s largest pork customer, purchasing 6,704 tonnes valued at close to $21 million. That volume accounted for more than three-quarters of Paraguay’s reported pork meat exports, making access to the Taiwanese market central to the sector’s current performance. Brazil ranked second with 1,353 tonnes worth approximately $2 million, while Uruguay bought 488 tonnes valued at $853,620.

Philippines opens a new Asian channel

The Philippines entered the destination list after Paraguay completed its first commercial pork operation with the country. The transaction covered 26 tonnes worth $91,450. ABC Color reported that the shipment, completed in early July, consisted of bone-in baby back ribs.

The initial Philippine order remains small compared with sales to Taiwan, but it gives Paraguayan exporters an additional outlet in Asia. For processors, the commercial significance will depend on whether the first cargo develops into recurring orders and whether companies can broaden the range of cuts sold there. The new destination also reduces, at the margin, the sector’s dependence on a single dominant Asian buyer.

African markets absorb pork offal

Pork offal followed a different trade pattern, with its principal destinations concentrated in Africa. Paraguay exported 148 tonnes of offal during the first six months of the year, 39% more than a year earlier. However, revenue increased by only 3%, reaching $64,230, showing that the segment’s value growth lagged well behind its volume expansion.

Côte d’Ivoire purchased 78 tonnes worth $33,995, while Liberia imported 70 tonnes valued at $30,235. These sales give Paraguayan processors a market for products distinct from the meat cuts shipped mainly to Taiwan and neighboring South American countries. The combination of higher meat revenue, a first shipment to the Philippines and established African demand for offal broadens the sector’s customer base, although Taiwan remains its decisive export market.
