Paraguay opens new markets for 75 products across 43 destinations
Paraguay exported 75 products to 43 new destinations between January and July 2026, according to Rediex data cited by El Nacional. Biodiesel shipments to Singapore led the new product-destination flows with a value of $5 million.
Paraguay expands its export footprint
Paraguay recorded exports of 75 domestic products to 43 new destinations between January and July 2026, broadening the international reach of its agricultural, industrial and forestry sectors. Eight products also entered international markets for the first time during the seven-month period, according to data from the Investment and Export Network, Rediex, an agency of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce cited by El Nacional.
The figures identify product-destination combinations that have moved beyond small trial consignments. The ministry classifies a case as new when exports exceeded $50,000 in 2026 and had not surpassed that threshold in any year from 2019 through 2025. This methodology highlights commercially relevant openings while excluding lower-value transactions.
Asian destinations take agricultural products and biodiesel
Nepal received Paraguayan sunflower oil, mung beans and cotton fiber for the first time. The South Asian country’s position between India and China gives the opening wider strategic relevance, although the source did not disclose shipment values or volumes for the three products.
Sunflower oil also reached Malaysia as Paraguay extended the product’s geographic coverage. The largest new product-destination flow of the period was biodiesel supplied to Singapore, worth $5 million through July. That transaction placed processed fuel ahead of the other newly established trade routes by value.
The Asian openings span food ingredients, agricultural raw materials and renewable fuel. For Paraguayan suppliers, that mix reduces reliance on a single product category and provides evidence that both primary and processed goods can find buyers in distant markets. The available data, however, describe market entry rather than the continuity of demand, and do not indicate whether the shipments will become recurring flows.
Uruguay and Guyana add regional industrial demand
Paraguay also established new routes within South America. Safflower oil was shipped to Uruguay, while modular electrical containers reached the same market. Aluminum electrical conductors entered Guyana for the first time, adding an industrial product to the list of regional market openings.
These sales show that export diversification is not confined to farm commodities. Electrical equipment and conductors broaden the composition of Paraguay’s new trade flows and may offer manufacturers shorter regional routes than shipments to Asia or Europe. El Nacional did not report the value or quantity of these industrial consignments.
Animal and wood products gain European access
Ukraine became a new destination for salted bovine casings during the first seven months of 2026. Veneered wood, meanwhile, entered Sweden, giving Paraguay an additional European outlet for a higher-processed forestry product. The two cases extend market coverage for sectors tied to the country’s livestock and timber supply chains.
Together, the openings demonstrate a broad range of exportable output: vegetable oils, pulses, cotton fiber, biodiesel, electrical goods, animal by-products and processed wood. The commercial test now is whether exporters can convert initial sales above the $50,000 threshold into stable orders. Freight costs, regulatory compliance and sustained buyer demand will determine whether the 43 new destinations become durable markets rather than one-year additions to Paraguay’s trade map.
