Nestlé Plans Automated Coffee Plant and Distribution Hub in Thailand
Nestlé Thailand plans an integrated coffee plant and distribution center at ARAYA The Eastern Gateway. The facility is expected to create 520 jobs and purchase about THB4.3 billion of Thai coffee beans, sugar, raw milk and other materials annually.
Integrated production and distribution site
Nestlé Thailand is investing in a new coffee manufacturing plant and distribution center at ARAYA The Eastern Gateway, expanding its production base in a market where the company has operated for more than 130 years. The project brings manufacturing, storage and distribution functions together at one site, although the company has not disclosed the investment value, production capacity or timetable for commissioning.
Thai Post and Spacebar report that the plant will make a broad range of Nescafé products, including soluble coffee powder, prepared coffee mixes and ready-to-drink coffee. The adjoining distribution center will handle multiple Nestlé product categories and connect storage and transportation more directly with manufacturing operations.
AI, automation and local procurement
The facility will use artificial intelligence, advanced automation and other modern production technologies. According to Spacebar, these systems are intended to raise operating efficiency, strengthen product quality control and support the development of new products. Nestlé also plans to train employees in technology, automated systems and advanced manufacturing processes.
The project is expected to create about 520 jobs. Nestlé will continue sourcing coffee beans, sugar, raw milk and other important materials from Thai farmers and domestic suppliers, with annual procurement estimated at about THB4.3 billion. That spending gives the investment a direct link to Thailand’s agricultural economy, particularly coffee, dairy and sugar supply chains, in addition to its impact on industrial employment.
Export options and logistics access
Nikhil Chand, chairman and chief executive of Nestlé Indochina, said the new plant would strengthen the company’s coffee production capabilities in Thailand and support future export opportunities. No target export markets or expected overseas volumes were identified. The combination of automated production and an on-site distribution center should nevertheless give Nestlé additional flexibility to serve both Thailand and foreign markets from the same complex.
ARAYA The Eastern Gateway, developed by Frasers Property, is located at kilometer 32 of Bangna-Trad Road. It connects with the new Bangkok–Chonburi motorway, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Bangkok’s central business areas. The industrial estate has been certified as Thailand’s first Smart Industrial Estate across all seven dimensions of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand’s framework. Kamolkarn Kongkathong, managing director of ARAYA Land Development, said Nestlé’s investment demonstrates Thailand’s potential as a strategic manufacturing base and regional production and distribution hub. For suppliers and logistics operators, the central commercial issue will be how the plant’s undisclosed capacity translates into demand beyond the stated THB4.3 billion in annual domestic purchasing and whether future exports become a material outlet for its coffee products.
