Muscat Chips Starts Up 300 kg/Hour Potato Chip Line in Oman, Orders a Second
TNA Solutions has commissioned a greenfield potato chip line for Mohammed Riaz & Partner LLC in Oman, launching the Muscat Chips and Muscat Chips Crinklz brands. The line processes 300 kg per hour, supports 24 SKUs and packs at up to 120 packs per minute. MR has already ordered a second line.
TNA Solutions has commissioned a greenfield potato chip production line for Mohammed Riaz & Partner LLC (MR) in Oman, taking the Muscat Chips and Muscat Chips Crinklz brands to market. According to PotatoPro, the fully integrated line has a capacity of 300 kg per hour, is designed to support 24 stock-keeping units and packs at speeds of up to 120 packs per minute.
Line specification and process scope
The installation is a complete processing and packaging chain rather than a set of standalone machines. PotatoPro reports that it covers the full production process, from washing, peeling, slicing, blanching and frying through to seasoning, distribution, weighing, metal detection, date coding and packaging. TNA Solutions acted as the project's complete solutions partner, supplying line design, layout optimisation, commissioning and operational support, which gave MR a single point of accountability across the development and launch of the facility.
Core equipment on the line includes:
- tna conti-pro PC 3 fryer
- tna intelli-flav OMS 5.1 seasoning system
- tna roflo VM3 vibratory motion distribution systems
- tna robag 3e vertical form fill and seal system
The robag 3e delivers up to 120 pillow bags per minute on 12 g packs while holding production and packaging performance steady. The line also runs 65 g packs and feeds a dedicated stack for multipack formats. The 24-SKU specification means frequent changeovers between flavours and pack sizes, which puts the operating load on the seasoning and distribution sections rather than on the fryer.
From trading house to snack manufacturer
Muscat Chips is MR's first greenfield snack production line and its first move into snack manufacturing. Fahad Mohammed Riaz, Vice Chairman at Mohammed Riaz & Partner LLC, has led the group's strategic expansion into the FMCG sector and its transition from a trading enterprise into a modern industrial business.
As a first-time snack producer, MR required more than equipment, seeking application expertise, local support and aftermarket capability alongside the hardware. “TNA's full responsibility and accountability for the entire project gave us peace of mind. We are now building on this momentum and planning a second line to support future growth,” Fahad Mohammed Riaz said. He added that “TNA's consultative and collaborative approach was critical to the execution of the project,” with support running from designing the layout through to running the line.
Scalability designed in, second line ordered
The build carried several constraints. Factory layouts had to change, future expansion had to be accommodated without creating production bottlenecks, and the line had to integrate with other operations on the site. TNA and MR worked together on factory layout, utilities and line configuration, with scalability incorporated into the design from the outset.
That flexibility was a commercial requirement as much as a technical one. Muscat Chips entered a market where established snack brands already hold a strong presence, so the ability to run multiple SKUs and pack formats at consistent quality and output was central to the specification. The investment has already resulted in the market launch of both Muscat Chips and Muscat Chips Crinklz in Oman.
Following that launch, MR has placed an order for a second potato chip production line. Palani Karai, General Manager – MENA at TNA Solutions, said the project “was about more than delivering machinery,” adding that “the real triumph is seeing a new brand like Muscat Chips establish itself on a strong footing in a competitive market and knowing the foundation is already in place for continued growth.” TNA Solutions will exhibit at Gulfood Manufacturing 2026 at Stand A4-4, Hall 4, from 3 to 5 November 2026.
