More than 40 wineries showcase products in Bucharest

More than 40 wineries from the Republic of Moldova are presenting wine, sparkling wine and divin in Bucharest as producers seek to strengthen their position in the Romanian market. The companies are participating in the sixth edition of the Moldovan Wine Festival, according to MOLDPRES.

The event brings together established producers and smaller wineries. Tastings, product discovery sessions and masterclasses led by sommeliers give participants access to consumers while also providing a setting for commercial discussions. The festival is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Romania and the National Office of Vine and Wine.

For smaller wineries, a collective showcase can reduce the practical barriers to introducing products to a neighboring market. Established companies can use the same event to reinforce recognition, present additional labels and maintain contact with distributors and hospitality buyers. MOLDPRES said the festival is intended both for a broad audience and for strengthening commercial relationships.

Romania leads Moldova’s wine export markets

Romania remained the main export market for Moldovan wine in 2025, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu said at the event. Shipments were worth approximately $45 million, based on records from the National Office of Vine and Wine. Around 70 Moldovan wineries are already represented in the Romanian market.

Those figures make Romania central to Moldova’s effort to expand the international visibility of its wine industry. The presence of about 70 wineries suggests that the market already accommodates a broad range of Moldovan suppliers rather than only a small group of leading exporters. The participation of more than 40 wineries in Bucharest also shows that producers continue to invest in consumer exposure and commercial contacts there.

Osmochescu said Moldovan wine is gaining a more visible place in foreign markets and described wine-sector products as an ambassador for the country. He encouraged visitors to continue seeking out the wines discovered at the festival after the event ends, so that the products reach consumers and carry Moldova’s name abroad.

Festival links promotion with market access

The Bucharest event combines national promotion with direct product presentation. Alongside still wine, participating producers are showcasing sparkling wine and divin, widening the range available to visitors and potential buyers. The involvement of sommeliers adds a professional education component that can help explain varieties and producer portfolios.

The available figures do not indicate shipment volumes, price trends or individual winery sales, so the value of the Romanian market cannot be separated into volume growth and changes in product mix. However, the approximately $45 million recorded in 2025 provides a clear benchmark for producers, distributors and analysts assessing Moldova’s progress in its leading wine destination. Future performance will depend on whether festival exposure produces repeat consumer demand and durable relationships with Romanian commercial partners.
