A combustion-led entry into Romania

Chinese automotive brand Jetour has officially entered Romania with four petrol-powered SUVs: the X50, Dashing, X70 Plus and T2. The launch on 10 September 2026 makes Romania the brand’s second market in the European Union after Poland, according to ProMotor.ro. The vehicles will be imported by Poland-based Asian Automotive Distribution Center.

The strategy differs from that of many Chinese brands already active in Romania, which have concentrated mainly on electric and hybrid vehicles. Newsweek Romania reports that 16-17 Chinese marques are already present in the country. Jetour is instead betting on conventional petrol engines and the continued strength of SUV demand. ProMotor.ro said 9,552 new passenger cars were registered in Romania in August 2026, while SUVs represented more than half of registrations in July.

Four models spanning urban, family and off-road use

The five-seat X50 is approximately 4.4 metres long and has a luggage compartment of almost 400 litres. Its 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is offered in different power and transmission configurations; Newsweek Romania describes a version producing 156 horsepower and 230 Nm with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Equipment includes two 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree 3D camera. Sales are expected during autumn 2026.

The 4.59-metre Dashing uses 1.5- and 1.6-litre turbo petrol engines, with output reaching 190 horsepower. Its equipment can include heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic roof, wireless charging and driver-assistance systems. The seven-seat X70 Plus is 4.72 metres long and uses the same engine sizes. It offers dual-zone climate control, more than ten driver-assistance systems and six airbags as standard across the range. Jetour is selling each Romanian model in one equipment grade, with customers choosing the engine and colour.

T2 leads the range as distribution expands

The T2 is positioned for off-road use and combines a reinforced body with Jetour’s XWD four-wheel-drive system. Its 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 245 horsepower and 375 Nm and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The system can switch automatically between two- and four-wheel drive and provides six driving modes, plus X mode and an intelligent crawl function. Technology includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, a 15.6-inch central display and advanced driver-assistance systems.

ProMotor.ro gives the T2 a list price of €41,900 and a promotional price of €39,900. The publication did not provide usable price figures for the other three models in the supplied source text. Jetour begins operations with ten authorised dealers: two in Bucharest and one each in Brașov, Iași, Timișoara, Constanța, Oradea, Târgu Mureș, Buzău and Craiova. The network will receive original parts through European logistics infrastructure, while every Jetour sold in Romania carries a seven-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty.

Founded by Chery Group in 2018, Jetour operates in more than 100 countries and regions and has over 2,000 sales and service outlets. Company data cited by ProMotor.ro put cumulative global sales at 2,408,762 vehicles by the end of June 2026. Both sources say the brand exceeded 2.5 million sales by the end of August, while ProMotor.ro reports that the T2 series alone had passed 570,000 units.
