Prices of domestically produced and locally assembled vehicles continued to rise in Iran on October 3. Bitrun linked the increases to a weaker currency, higher gold prices, inflation expectations and vehicle supply.

Iran Car Prices Rise as Currency and Gold Gains Lift Market Expectations

Iran’s car market extends September gains

Iran’s automotive market entered October on a continued upward trajectory, with substantial price increases affecting both domestically produced cars and locally assembled models. Prices reported by vehicle dealers on Saturday, October 3, showed that the gains established during the previous month had carried into Mehr, according to Iranian transport publication Bitrun.

Bitrun attributed the movement partly to developments in Iran’s currency and gold markets. Gold moved above 25 million tomans, while the exchange rate reached about 258,000 tomans. The publication said these changes had influenced expectations among automotive market participants and were feeding into vehicle pricing.

Exchange-rate volatility, inflation expectations, vehicle supply and transaction volumes remain the principal variables shaping the market. Trading activity will be particularly important in determining whether the current price wave continues or loses momentum in the coming days.

Peugeot 207 leads increases among domestic models

Iran Khodro vehicles recorded several of the market’s largest increases. The Peugeot 207 automatic has gained 340 million tomans since the beginning of Mehr and is now priced at 3.18 billion tomans. The dual-fuel Soren Plus with a large gas cylinder rose by 40 million tomans over three days to 2.55 billion tomans.

The six-speed Dena Plus increased by 150 million tomans over one week, reaching 2.59 billion tomans. The automatic Tara was quoted at 3.47 billion tomans on October 3, although Bitrun did not provide a comparison with its earlier price.

Prices also advanced across Saipa’s range. A new Quick S has risen by 67 million tomans since the start of Mehr to 1.475 billion tomans. The dual-fuel Saina gained 80 million tomans in seven days and was offered at 1.68 billion tomans.

Locally assembled vehicles also become more expensive

The upward movement extended to vehicles assembled in Iran from foreign-brand platforms and components. The Tiggo 8 Pro Max posted the largest absolute increase cited by Bitrun, gaining 530 million tomans since the beginning of Mehr to reach 9.78 billion tomans.

The Haima S7 Pro rose by 150 million tomans over one week and was trading at 5.76 billion tomans. The seven-seat Fidelity Elite became 200 million tomans more expensive within three days, taking its price to about 6.4 billion tomans. A new JAC J4 was quoted at 2.75 billion tomans.

The increases span several manufacturers and price segments, indicating that the movement is not confined to a single model or producer. However, the quoted figures represent market prices reported by dealers rather than production costs or official factory prices. The direction of the market will therefore depend not only on currency and gold movements, but also on whether buyers continue completing transactions at the higher asking prices and on the volume of vehicles available for sale.
