East Java trade mission in Hong Kong records Rp12.038 trillion in transactions

Transaction value rises more than tenfold

East Java’s trade delegation to Hong Kong recorded final transactions of Rp12,038,159,976,541 at the East Java Trade and Investment Forum 2026, according to Surya.co.id. The result was more than ten times the approximately Rp1.1 trillion registered during the provincial government’s previous Hong Kong trade and investment mission in May 2023.

The forum was held at the Regal Hotel Hong Kong on Friday, July 24, 2026, and was led by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa. It brought East Java companies together with prospective international buyers and investors, creating opportunities for both merchandise sales and investment in the province’s processing industries.

Around 100 participants attended, including representatives of the East Java provincial government, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, East Java businesses, prospective buyers and Hong Kong investors. The transaction total indicates the scale of commercial commitments generated at the event, although the source did not provide a breakdown between exports, investment or individual product categories.

Diverse export portfolio targets Hong Kong

Products covered by the transactions included gold jewelry, fishery products, tissue, cigarettes, tobacco, crude palm oil derivatives, footwear, coffee, organic chemicals, copper products, edible bird’s nests, charcoal, desiccated coconut and cosmetics. The portfolio also included processed foods such as snacks, confectionery, chili sauce, seasonings and chocolate.

Khofifah said the result reflected growing international confidence in the quality of East Java products. She described Hong Kong as a strategic trading partner and a major center for trade, logistics and finance. Products already attracting strong Hong Kong demand include horticultural goods, seafood, processed food, tobacco, chemicals, jewelry and other manufactured products.

The broad product range gives companies in several East Java supply chains a route into a high-value commercial hub. Producers and processors can use the forum to secure buyers, while distributors in Hong Kong gain access to food, consumer goods and industrial products from one of Indonesia’s main production centers. For smaller businesses, participation can provide contacts and market access that would be difficult to build independently.

Investment sought for downstream processing

The provincial government is also using the mission to seek new investment, expand international business networks, strengthen supply chains and support technology transfer. Khofifah said East Java’s position as a national production center and a gateway for eastern Indonesian trade was supported by developing logistics infrastructure, competitive industrial estates, skilled workers and a growing industrial ecosystem.

Investment is particularly relevant to East Java’s plans for downstream processing. Khofifah cited PT Sunrise Masami Indonesia, a Hong Kong company building a canning industry operation in East Java, as one example. Such projects could increase local processing capacity and allow more value to be retained in the province before goods reach overseas markets.

The Rp12.038 trillion result gives the provincial government a substantially larger transaction base than the 2023 Hong Kong mission. Execution will now determine its commercial impact: buyers and producers must convert commitments into deliveries, while investment projects must progress into operating capacity. For East Java exporters, Hong Kong offers both a direct market and an international platform for developing wider commercial networks.
