Buraidah Dates Carnival Expands Saudi Producers’ Reach to More Than 70 Countries

Air freight opens access to more than 70 countries

The logistics network operating at the Buraidah International Dates Carnival is connecting Saudi date suppliers with buyers in more than 70 countries. According to Saudi publication Ajel, air-freight services provide the international reach, while road transport links the carnival with markets across the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The network also covers all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia and serves more than 100 cities and governorates. This combination of domestic distribution, regional road freight and international air cargo gives producers and traders several routes from the Buraidah marketplace to their target customers.

More than 600 shipments handled each day

Logistics providers at the carnival execute more than 600 shipments daily as commercial activity in the market grows, Ajel reported. Shipping starts in the early hours alongside the market’s trading activity. Specialist companies receive the consignments, prepare them according to the operational and regulatory requirements of each cargo and destination, and transfer them using equipped vehicles and other appropriate transport services.

Available options include standard and express delivery, refrigerated and frozen shipping, and road and air transport. The range allows suppliers to select services based on the condition of the dates, the destination and the required delivery time. Packaging and distribution are integrated with transport and cargo handling to protect product quality and safety during preparation, movement and final delivery.

For processors, wholesalers and exporters, the operational significance lies in shortening the route between transactions at the carnival and delivery to customers. Refrigerated and frozen services also provide additional handling choices where a shipment’s specifications or destination require controlled temperatures.

Carnival strengthens its role as a commercial platform

Dr. Khalid Al-Nuqidan, secretary-general of the carnival’s supreme committee and chief executive of the Buraidah International Dates Carnival, said integrated transport and shipping services are a central element in supporting the date trade and widening its marketing reach. He said the logistics and supply-chain system receives support from the governor of the Qassim region and his deputy, with the aim of improving the region’s date sector and access to different markets.

The logistics activity extends beyond moving the fruit. During the carnival season, it creates opportunities for young people in loading, preparation, coordination and supporting services. These roles contribute to the continuous movement of consignments through the designated transport and shipping areas.

The expanded network positions the carnival as both a marketplace and a distribution point for Saudi dates. Domestic coverage provides access to customers throughout the kingdom, road freight serves nearby Gulf markets, and air cargo gives exporters a channel to more distant destinations. The value for market participants will depend on how reliably the network maintains quality, meets destination requirements and converts access to more than 70 countries into recurring commercial demand.
